Description of YFL036W: Mitochondrial RNA polymerase; single subunit enzyme similar to those of T3 and T7 bacteriophages; requires a specificity subunit encoded by MTF1 for promoter recognition; Mtf1p interacts with and stabilizes the Rpo41p-promoter complex, enhancing DNA bending and melting to facilitate pre-initiation open complex formation[1][2][3]

Two Hybrid
Two Hybrid interaction with MTF2
The mitochondrial matrix protein Mtf2p/Nam1p interacts with the amino-terminal domain of mtRNA polymerase (Rpo41p) to couple post-transcriptional events to transcription during mitochondrial gene expression. [4] [5]
Protein Details
Protein Function/Process
The amino-terminal extension of Rpo41p contains a functional domain that is dispensible for transcription initiation, but is required for mtDNA stability, suggesting that additional activities are coupled to transcription during mitochondrial gene expression and/or mtDNA replication. [6] [7]
