Description of YPR068C: Putative class I histone deacetylase (HDAC) with sequence similarity to Hda1p, Rpd3p, Hos2p, and Hos3p; deletion results in increased histone acetylation at rDNA repeats; interacts with the Tup1p-Ssn6p corepressor complex[1][2][3]

In Robyr et al (2002), antibodies to specific acetyl forms of histones were used to find regions of the genome that increased in acetylation when certain histone deacetylases were deleted. Deletion of Hos1 resulted in increased acetylation primarily at the rDNA repeats. [2] [4]
