Systematic name YOR197W
Gene name MCA1
Aliases YCA1, [MCA]
Feature type ORF, Verified
Coordinates Chr XV:717086..718384
Primary SGDID S000005723

Description of YOR197W: Ca2+-activated cysteine protease; may cleave specific substrates during stress response; involved in regulation of apoptosis upon H2O2 treatment; contributes to clearance of insoluble protein aggregates during normal growth; may be involved in cell cycle progression; similar to mammalian caspases, but exists as a monomer due to an extra pair of anti-parallel beta-strands that form a continuous beta-sheet with the 6 caspase-common beta-strands, blocking potential dimerization[1][2][3][4]
