Ure2p is composed of 354 amino acids. The first approximately 90 residues form a prion domain that is necessary for the formation and propagation of the prion. The c-terminal domain is the Nitrogen Catabolite Repression (NCR) domain, which is required for repression of genes involved in nitrogen catabolism.
