Acr2p is an arsenate reductase that is related to protein phosphotyrosine phosphateses. The active site of Acr2p has the consensus phosphatese HC(X)5R motif. [3] [4]

Purified Acr2p reduces arsenate to arsenite using glutaredoxin and GSH as reductants. [2] [4]

Protein Details

Protein Function/Process

Disruption of ACR2 resulted in senstivity to arsenate but not arsenite. Purified Acr2p was shown to have arsenate reductase activity. [1] [4]

Acr2p, which is related to protein phosphotyrosine phosphatases, has arsenate reductase activity but not protein phosphotyrosine phosphatase activity. Three mutations were sufficient to change the activity from a reductase to a phosphatase. [5] [4]
