Complete Deletion
Strain Background: W303
Phenotype(s): Loss of function (Null), Temperature(Heat) Sensitive
Mutant shows decreased growth in glycerol and decreased ability to undergo diauxic shift. These phenotypes are corrected by expression of Bcl-xL. (Conversely, YDR346C has anti-apoptotic activity when expressed in mammalian cells.) Authors have named the gene SVF1, and found homology only to other fungal genes. They suggest that SVF1 may represent an as yet unknown family of genes responsible for adaptation to cellular stress. [1] [2]
