Description of YBL064C: Mitochondrial peroxiredoxin with thioredoxin peroxidase activity; has a role in reduction of hydroperoxides; reactivation requires Trr2p and glutathione; induced during respiratory growth and oxidative stress; phosphorylated; protein abundance increases in response to DNA replication stress[1][2][3][4][5]

Interactions
Regulatory
YBL064C is regulated by TOR1.Regulatory interaction with TOR1
PRX1 mRNA expression is down regulated by TOR1p in the presence of glucose. [6] [7]
YBL064C is regulated by Msn2.Regulatory interaction with Msn2
YBL064c is up regulated by Msn2p/Msn4p during glucose exhaustion (cells grown in respiratory carbon sources, such as glycerol / ethanol). Exogenously added cAMP represses the induction of YBL064c mRNA expression even in respiratory conditions. [8] [9]
YBL064C is regulated by Hap1.Regulatory interaction with Hap1
YBL064c mRNA expression was induced by peroxides in a time- and dose-dependent manner and varied with the carbon source present in the media. Deletion of HAP1 or inhibition of heme synthesis abolished induction of YBL064c mRNA expression by H2O2 on cells which were grown in media containing glucose, indicating that Hap1p is involved in the regulation of this process. [8] [9]
